• How If I Could Tell You Works The If I Could Tell You website enables you to build a profile and populate it with information you would want people to have after you die. Your If I Could Tell You profile is a dynamic space which you build out, alter and update over time, as your life, your assets and your thoughts about what you would want others to know evolve. If I Could Tell You handles the dissemination of the information within your profile differently depending on the membership option you choose. If you choose an unpaid membership, the information in your profile becomes accessible to the people of your choosing as soon as you send them an invitation. If you choose a paid membership, the information in your profile is held private for dissemination after your death. If your paid membership is current at the time of your death, If I Could Tell You will verify your passing through two sources chosen in advance by you, and with a death certificate.
• Using If I Could Tell You, you build a profile containing your messages and instructions. That profile is part of If I Could Tell You’s service. To provide you this service, If I Could Tell You offers the digital equivalent of a sealed envelope. The information you input is password protected and visible only to you and those you designate. Any use we make of your information is subject to the terms of this privacy policy. If you use If I Could Tell You, you agree to allow us to use your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
• If I Could Tell You makes an important distinction between the contents of your profile (the place where you input your after-death details) and your identifying info. The main distinction is that the contents of your profile is invisible to everyone, including most members of the If I Could Tell You staff, where your identifying info, which helps us to match death certificates to their rightful owners, can be viewed by others in accordance with the privacy settings you choose. Some information from your identifying info may be used for marketing purposes.
• You are in control of what information about yourself and what content from your profile you share with us and with other If I Could Tell You users. Visit http://ificouldtellyou.com/settings to configure your account settings to reflect your privacy preferences.
• What information does If I Could Tell You collect and how? Personal information collected by If I Could Tell You is information voluntarily provided to us by you when you create your account or change your account or identifying information. Currently, information that we save about you includes your legal name, your email address, your user id and your city and state of residence. We use this information to match your profile to any claims of your death.
• If I Could Tell You stores the contents of your profile that you voluntarily provide. By visiting http://ifiouldtellyou.com/settings, you can set your account to be invisible to the on-site search engine. When you unsubscribe from the If I Could Tell You service, all data that we have saved about you continues to be stored on our servers. If you would like your account permanently deleted, please contact our site administrator at support@IfICouldTellYou.com.
• The If I Could Tell You website uses cookies. A cookie is a small string of text that a website can send to your browser, for the purpose of enhancing your visit to the website. A cookie cannot retrieve any other data from your hard drive, pass on computer viruses, or capture your email address. We use cookies to personalize your site visit, securely store your ID and password, and identify which parts of a site have been visited or keep track of other information that you voluntarily provide. You can set your computer settings to alert you when a cookie is being placed. You may also clear all cookies saved to your computer by using the relevant selection in your internet browser.
• How If I Could Tell You uses your personal information The contents of your profile is visible only to you and to those you invite to see it. The contents of your identifying info by default is visible on the IfICouldTellYou.com website. You can change this by visiting http://IfICouldTellYou.com/settings.
• If I Could Tell You does not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others. We will not disclose your personal information to others without your express permission, or as otherwise permitted by this Privacy Policy. If I Could Tell You does not supplement the personal information provided by you with information collected from other sources.
• We will use your personal information to contact you from time to time by email: regarding updates to our policies and to the If I Could Tell You service; to send you reminders or other information that we feel may be of interest to you. The If I Could Tell You service includes a reminder email that prompts you to update your profile. The interval at which the reminder email is issued is chosen by you during the registration process. You may increase or decrease the frequency of the reminder email or elect to turn it off altogether by visiting http://IfICouldTellYou.com/settings. You may choose to unsubscribe from our emails by using the “unsubscribe” link on the bottom of the email.
• Your identifying information will be accessed by If I Could Tell You employees as necessary to provide customer support and troubleshoot problems. The contents of your profile is encrypted and cannot be accessed by most If I Could Tell You employees, even for the purpose of customer support.
• We may release personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, to enforce or apply our Terms of Service and other agreements, or to protect the rights of If I Could Tell You or others. Your personal information is, of course, subject to disclosure pursuant to judicial or other government subpoenas, warrants or orders.
• How does If I Could Tell You protect your personal information?Information collected about you is protected in several ways.
• When you provide us with your email or other personal information, these are stored in our secure database in encrypted format. When your personal information is sent between the Web browser and the server, it is also encrypted using modern encryption standards in order prevent unauthorized parties from viewing such information while it is being transferred.
• Access by you to your personal information is available through a password and unique user ID selected by you. Your password is encrypted. We strongly recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. When you are ready to share information contained in your profile, we strongly advise you to use the distinct user name and password that is generated exclusively for your recipients during the invitation process that is an integral part of the If I Could Tell You service.

• Reviewing, changing, and deleting your personal informationAt any time, you may request to view or update the personal information that is associated with your account and stored by If I Could Tell You. You may also request that we correct, delete some or all personal and/or non-personal information that we have collected about you. We will promptly fulfill your request and provide you confirmation when the information has been deleted. • Children's privacyIf I Could Tell You is committed to the protection and preservation of children’s privacy. Parents and guardians of any child under 13 have the right to consent to If I Could Tell You’s collection and use of personal information from their child without consenting to its disclosure to third parties. Parents have the right to review personal information collected from their child and also the right to have such information, or any portion of it, deleted.
